Ian D. Dunkle

I am Assistant Professor of Philosophy at the University of Southern Mississippi. I serve on the advisory board for USM’s Center for Ethics and Health Humanities. I am also affiliate faculty in the Disability Studies Program and the Health Humanities Program.

My research focuses on understanding health and wellbeing. I write both for 19th-century scholars and contemporary ethicists. I am also interested in philosophy of disability, aesthetics, and human abilities.

At Southern Miss, I regularly teach on Bioethics, Ethics, History of Philosophy, and Critical Thinking (with LSAT preparation). I’m pleased to share that I’ve been awarded USM’s Humanities Teacher of the Year for 2024 by the Mississippi Humanities Council!

I am also Book Reviews Editor for The Journal of Nietzsche Studies.
